Dr. Brenda Mitchell, President and Chief Executive Officer of Management and Environmental Technologies (MET), Inc., is the former Secretary of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of State.  Dr. Mitchell has a Doctorate degree in Public Administration and a Masters degree in Urban Affairs and Planning. Her experience includes serving as Deputy Secretary for Policy Planning, Administration and Programs for the Pennsylvania Department of Commerce; Special Assistant to the Governor in Small Business and Community Development; and Executive Director of the Community Economic Revitalization Project for City Venture Corporation.

Dr. Mitchell has led MET through a number of major project accomplishments, providing the means by which program users gain the education and training needed in order to improve their quality of life, and including the Community Leadership Development Institute's (CLDI) technology and career mobility initiatives.

The CLDI project provides for technology and career training for residents of six public housing developments in the Pittsburgh area. With MET's guidance and encouragement and working with Carnegie Mellon University and the Carnegie Science Center, residents were able to get the training needed to work in their communities through on-the-job training programs along side career professionals.
