The Housing Authority of Louisville
(HAL) is a nonprofit agency responsible for the development and management
of federally subsidized low-rent housing in the City of Louisville.
The Housing Authority of Louisville presently manages approximately
5,000 apartments with occupancy determined primarily by federal income
guidelines. HAL has seven family housing communities and four housing
communities for handicapped and senior citizens, and a growing number
of scattered site housing. Approximately 10,000 of the city's residents
reside in public or subsidized housing.
